Brief

Our client required Innes BC to deliver a mixed-use retail and residential development in Dundee City Centre, where two retailers and a housing association had agreed terms with our client. The development comprises 20,000 sq ft of retail space on the ground and basement floors, with 24 residential units on the upper floors.

CHALLENGE

We dealt with multiple end users and ensured that the requirements of the retailers and the housing association were met during the design and construction stage. This involved frequent interaction with the end users and required in-depth knowledge of their respective specifications.

KEY ASPECTS

Innes BC appointed a design team with experience in mixed-use retail developments, and we managed the design team to ensure that the end user’s specification requirements were incorporated.

Innes BC assisted in the lease negotiations with the retailers and the legal representatives, reviewing the retailers’ technical specifications and drawings. This process ensured the retailers’ design aspirations were incorporated within the development’s overall design whilst protecting the developer’s interests.

The project is currently on site and due to complete in August 2022, in line with the development programme. Progress and quality have been regularly monitored by Innes BC during the construction stage, resulting in a high standard of workmanship, adherence to the retailers’ specifications and the project scheduled to complete on time.
